August Wrap-up

So this is my August wrap-up. I'm actually genuinely surprised I read this much.  I won't do a September TBR because I don't know what I'm going to read in September.  I was pretty pleased with my reading August was pretty stressful for me with moving back to school, and starting student teaching.

The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith
I liked this book a lot, but it was hard to get into.  The beginning is quite slow and it wasn't what I was expecting based on what I had heard it described as.  I thought this was more of a story about a long distance relationship rather than the story of two people kind of going their separate ways to find each other again.  Overall I thought it was good, but it could have been so much better than it actually was.  It's still a good read, and I would definitely recommend it, but I was expecting something different.

My Rating

Of Triton by Anna Banks
I thought this was a really great sequel, but I had some problems with it.  I felt that the plot was a little rushed, and that the ending needed to be more drawn out and could have been much more suspenseful.  However overall I thought it was a good book.  This could have easily been the end of the series, but I am excited to read the third book still.

Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern
This book is beautiful I love it so much.  I have already written a full review on it, so I won't go into too much detail.  However I found myself surprised by this book which is really to do in contemporaries (or at least in my opinion).

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
This was a reread for me, and I forgot how much I loved this book.  The first time I read it I was a junior in high school.  So it's been over 4 years since I last read it, and I forgot how amazing road trip books are. I just want to read all of the road trip books now.  It's so fantastic, and anyone who loves contemporary should definitely give it a read!

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
This came to me on my birthday, and it was the best birthday present ever! I love Stephanie Perkins; she is amazing at cutesy love stories, and this was no exception.  I found Isla and Josh to be adorable, and that their struggles were very realistic.  And that ending, you know the part with the people where the thing happens. Yeah, that part! (If you've read it you know what I'm talking about, but I will not spoil it for those who haven't). It was so friggin adorable and I loved it.

Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid
In keeping with the road trip books, I read Let's Get Lost, and I adored it.  I know a lot of people didn't love it because they had problems with the insta-love, but I didn't have a problem with it.  In this case, it didn't seem like insta-love, but the start of a somewhat serious summer fling.  I liked how the author told the story.  I really enjoyed the different perspectives, and I just thought it was all so great, and I really liked the ending!

My Rating

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
This was a book I wasn't expecting to love so much.  I know a lot of people really enjoy this book, and from the plot synopsis I didn't really see the appeal.  However the more I read into it the more I really loved it.  It had some very real issues of what it is like to be in high school, and I love realistic stories

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I really enjoyed this book as well.  However I did miss having lots of witty dialogue.  That's my favorite part about young adult contemporaries is the dialogue.  Of course, I know that with the premise of this book it wasn't going to be dialogue heavy, but I was still missing it.  However when there was dialogue, it was usually either really funny or very meaningful and I really appreciated that.  Overall I thought it was really good and the movie was as well!

My Rating

Overall this month I read a lot of great books.  I'm hoping my reading will pick back up around October because September has also been a busy month for me so far.
