Books I Want To Reread

Unlike many people, I really enjoy rereading a book.  There are some books that I could just read over and over again, and never get bored with it.  So here are some of the books that I would like to reread either next year or when I finish my hundred book challenge.  Also as a note, I did not include any of John Green's books because I reread them all the time, and I did not include Rainbow Rowell because I will most likely reread all of her books ever year too.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I recently finished Isla and the Happily Ever After, and I am already ready to start the whole series over again.  I miss the characters so much already, and it feels like I read Anna and the French Kiss ages ago.  It was so cute and adorable that I just want to reread it all the time.  I also want to see which characters from Isla and the Happily Ever After were in Anna and the French Kiss because there were parts that they talked about in Isla and the Happily Ever After. That were from Anna and the French Kiss that I didn't really remember.  So I would love to give it a reread.

The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su and Kate Rorick

The reason why I want to reread this is simple.  I've started watching the web series again, and I would just love to give it a reread.

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

This was one of the first books I read when I decided to join BookTube.  A lot of people have more critical opinions about it, and I wonder if now that I have read a lot more books if my opinion of it would change.  That and who wouldn't want to reread a time travel story? I mean good time travel stories are hard to come by!

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Much like The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, I want to read this for a very simple reason.  I recently bought this book for my best friend for his birthday and I want to have it fresh in my mind so that when he finishes it we can talk about it.

The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider 

This was another one of my favorites this year, and I just feel like I haven't read it in so long that I want to reread it again.  I feel like I've already forgot some details about what happens in the book, and now that I finally own my own copy (in the beautiful yellow hardback editon!), I can reread it as much as I want.

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

I want to reread this for almost all of the same reasons that I want to reread The Beginning of Everything.  However I don't actually own this one yet.  So I feel like that means I need to go out and buy it so that I can reread it, right?  It's such a short quick read that I could really use a reread since I've been in such a reading slump lately.

This book was absolutely amazing. I loved everything about it.  When I read the description on Goodreads, I thought "The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor & Park" I immediately have some high expectations because those are two of my favorite books.  It lived up to my expectation.  I mean I am one of those people who is religiously asleep by 11 pm, and I stayed up until 2 am to finish it.  I have been on this huge contemporary kick lately, and I've noticed that it is quite hard for me to feel surprised with contemporaries.  However this book had some major twist and turns that I didn't see coming.  So that impressed me.  I also found the characters to be a very realistic portrayal of kids with disabilities.  Although I don't know what it is like to have cerebral palsy, I have seen what it is like or someone to have OCD, and I could understand exactly how Matthew was feeling. I also feel like there were a lot of very realistic problem that a high school student would have.  This was just such a unique book.  I felt like I had never read anything quite like it, and if you are thinking about picking it up I would definitely suggest it.

My Day In New York

What?! Not a post about books? Yeah, I thought I would try something new.  :)

So last Wednesday I went to New York with my grandfather.  Every other year or so, we go to see a Broadway show for my birthday.  So what we do is leave pretty early in the morning to get into the TKTS line a bit before 10 (which is when it opens).  If you don't know what the TKTS line is, it's a half price tickets line.  Not all shows are available in this line, but the vast majority of them are.  So by the time we got our tickets it was just after 10.

When I went to New York with him two years ago, I wanted to see the Saint Patrick's Cathedral, but it was unfortunately under construction.  So we thought after two years, the work would be done, but sadly we were wrong.  The construction (both inside and out) won't be done until November 2016! We were told most of the work on the inside should be done soon, but they were just trying to restore the cathedral so that it could last for another century.

Although it's under construction, I did get some pictures!

Those are just some of the many beautiful stain glass windows throughout the cathedral.

We also went to F.A.O. Schwartz, which if you don't know is this gigantic toy store.  There is everything you could imagine.  It kind of reminded me of the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, which we saw in the movie Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.  There were toys flying around and it was just buzzing with fun.  I took a couple pictures in here.

Then afterwards we ate lunch at the world's largest Applebee's.  Literally. It said so on the window.  Then after we finished lunch we headed towards Ambassador theater to see Chicago!  I was so excited because this was the show I really wanted to see, and we ended up having great seats.  We sat in the eleventh row of the orchestra pretty much in the center, and there was no one sitting in front of us which was a big bonus.

If you don't know what the show is about, to be short and sweet and to the point it's about women murderers.  This is definitely not a show for kids.  I mean first of all there was a bar in the theater and there were people walking around selling wine, but there's some cursing and crude language.  However all of this is used rather humorously.  If you're like me and you're a fan of the big production numbers you won't find it in this show.  Mostly because (to mine and my grandfather's surprise) the orchestra was on the stage.  However this didn't hinder my enjoyment of the show.  The cast was fantastic especially Roxie Hart who was played by Bianca Marroquin.  If you get a chance to see her play Roxie, I would say take it.  She was a fantastic actress.  Overall I would highly recommend this show.  It had such high energy and I never felt bored while watching it.

Overall I had a great time in New York.

August TBR

So as far as August goes, it's going to be a hectic month for me.  I move back to school, and I'm trying to see everyone before my leave, and on top of that my birthday is in August. So my TBR is rather small because I don't expect to have a lot of time to read.  However I have five books that I want to get through this month.

The Geography of You And Me by Jennifer E. Smith

This is a book that I have actually already finished.  However when I finally got my hands on a copy of it, I knew it was going to be one of the first things I would read this month.  I've been wanting to read this since it came out in April.

City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

Yes, I am finally hoping on this band wagon and finishing the series.  I've been wanting to finish this series for a while now, but many people told me that I needed to finish The Infernal Devices trilogy first.  So now that I've finished it there's nothin standing in my way of finishing that mammoth beast of a book.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

 If you watch my YouTube channel, this book won't be a surprise. I adore all of Stephanie Perkins books, and when I heard if you pre-ordered from certain independent bookstores that you would get a signed copy, I immediately pre-ordered it.  So once it is in my hands I will read it probably in one day because I'm so excited for it.

Of Triton by Anna Banks

I read the first book in the series, Of Poseidon, at the beginning of July, and the ending was quite a big cliff hanger. So now that I have the next book I need to read it as soon as possible.

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

I recently bought this one just because I really wanted to reread it an I am justso excited to read it that I'm hoping to read it sometime this month.

So that is my August TBR, and personally I will be really happy if I get through all of these since August is so busy for me! :)

July Wrap-Up

So I had a really fantastic reading month in July.  I read 16 books! So we're just going to get started with the books.

Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

As usual, it was a good book.  I don't think I could ever dislike a Rick Riordan book.  However this one was probably my least favorite.  I love Percy, but I didn't really enjoy Percy without his memory, and it also lacked a sense of urgency. Usually Rick Riordan's book have this sense of urgency, and the characters rush so the plot goes quickly.  However this one didn't have that so the plot just felt really slow, but I'm still looking forward to the rest of he series.

Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson

This was a cute story, but it wasn't a very original. Movie star with a bad reputation comes to small town, and the movie star's manager pays a small town girl to pretend to be his girlfriend to boost his image.  The book itself was good.  It was a nice quick read, but there wasn't much that was original.  The story line with her brother I found to be really interesting, and I wish there was more to do with that in the plot throughout the story.  If you're looking for a light, fun read I would definitely suggest this.

Easy by Tammara Webber

This is my least favorite book I have read so far throughout the year.  I know a lot of people really love this book, but going into it I didn't know what it was about, and I am not a fan of books with sexual assault as the main plot point.  However that wasn't my only reason I disliked it.  I didn't like almost all of the characters.  I felt like the plot was unfocused and that there were to many subplots that didn't make sense with the main plot.  I could go on and on with why I didn't like it, but I don't feel like continuing on.  Just know that I personally didn't like it.

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab

I adored this book.  I love Victoria Schwab's writing style.  It was such an exciting thrill ride.  I didn't realize how much I missed these characters until I started reading this.  I loved the way the plot went in this book, and I'm really hoping that there is a third book.  So if you haven't already I would suggest picking up The Archived so you can read The Unbound as well.

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

This was a book that Ariel Bisset picked out for me, and I was so excited to read it because I trust her opinions, and she did not let me down.  This was my first "mermaid" book, and I really enjoyed it.  I loved the characters and the twists and turns.  There were many times where I didn't see the plot twist coming.  The ending was just such a shock, and I feel like I should have seen it coming, but I didn't and it made me want to pick up the next two books! I am so excited to continue on with the series.

The Geek's Guide to Dating by Eric Smith

I received a copy of this from Quirk Books, and I'm so glad I did because it was adorable.  I did a full review on this blog.  All you need to know is that it is cuteness and adorableness and nerdiness.  If you consider yourself a nerd or a geek, pick it up! I'm sure you will find yourself chuckling while you read it.

Rush by Eve Silver

I really liked Rush. My biggest problem was that I wasn't in the mood for a sci-fi book.  I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was in the mood for it.  I found it difficult to get into for me, but I enjoyed it a lot.  There was a lot of world building so I think that's also why it took me a while to get into it.  Originally it was going to be a 4 star book, but that ending made me bump it up a little.  I can't wait to read the sequel.  I just want to know what happens!

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

It took me forever to get into this book, but once I did I loved it.  I unlike everyone else did not love Will Herondale, but I liked all of the characters.  I also didn't see a lot of the twists and turns coming.  I really enjoyed the plot.

Just like Clockwork Angel, I really enjoyed this one.  Cassandra Clare does some of the best plot twists.  Almost all of the twists, I didn't see coming.  Overall it was a very good book.

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

This was an excellent conclusion to the trilogy.  It gave me all of the feels.  It was so action packed and sad and just so good.  Words really can't describe my feelings for it.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

I loved this book so much.  I love every book Rainbow Rowell has ever written.  I think she really likes great and complex characters that are really easy to relate too.  All of Rainbow Rowell's books feel so different from one another.  This was one of the books that I was highly anticipating, and I won it in a giveaway.  Needless to say I dove right into this book and absolutely adored it.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

This was super cute.  I really liked the story.  Some of the twists and turns were predictable, but that didn't take away from the story for me.  I really did not like Margot's character, but other than that I like the story. I thought the characters were easy to relate to.  It was a quick read that I just flew through, and I can't wait to read the second book in the duology!

The Elite by Kiera Cass

I read The Selection sometime in June, and I really enjoyed it.  Did I think it was this amazing literary work? No, but it was an enjoyable story though.  I wanted to know what was going to happen with America, and I just wanted to see what was going to happen.  I felt like this story was more developed, and I enjoyed it more than The Selection.  The only thing that really bothers me about this whole thing is Aspen. I really don't like him as a character

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

I adored this book.  I loved both Eleanor and Park as characters, and I felt like the plot was really realistic.  I just loved this book, and I am hoping we get to find out more about where Eleanor and Park ended up.  I thought the ending was great.  While it left you completely dumbfounded, I felt that was a good ending because it left it open for more, but you still knew that it wasn't over.  I really loved this book, and can't wait to reread it.
